Mountain Gate Primary School - Art 2020

I found creating instructional videos to be a very valuable tool when delivering online lessons. Students would be able to watch step-by-step the processes required to create the finished outcome. Furthermore they could re-watch or pause whenever they needed to and I would add music and time-lapse to add entertainment. Keeping tasks straightforward and building on previous skills but with scope for further sophistication was also key.

I was blown away by the creativity and positivity of the students as they worked to create whatever the task was that week and see them use their initiative to overcome any material problems or expand upon the initial idea presented. However, I greatly missed being able to watch them create their artworks. I realised how much I valued being able to offer suggestions and encouragement while watching their ideas come to life. While I had fun creating instructional videos each week, learning new editing skills, staying on top of the housework and having easy access to snacks - stepping back into the Art room was like receiving a hug from an old friend who I had missed even more than I realised.
