Visual Communication Design 2020

Critical and creative design thinking and adapting to the needs of a target audience is a consistent theme of this subject, remote learning providing the inadvertent conditions for these themes to be thoroughly explored.

The humble graphite pencil and paper has been the hero for many students studying this subject, other stationary staples such as a ruler, fineliner and coloured pencils also playing supporting roles in fulfilling design needs and creating imagery to communicate meaning.

Year 10 students have demonstrated an understanding of the design elements and principles that underpin the production of all design, in addition to generating ideas for a range of design briefs, particularly a space museum design in two-point perspective.

Our VCE Visual Communication Design students have been busy working on independent folios that cover the areas of communication design, industrial design and environmental design. The use of digital imaging software such as Adobe Photoshop and Krita combined with manual methods of construction, painting, rendering and technical drawing has resulted in some brilliant presentations.
