Community 2020
Throughout every school year, Scoresby Secondary Collage aims to connect with the local community through visits to primary schools, arts festivals and participating in local art competitions.
This desire to remain connected to those around us was especially strong this year with the impacts of the lockdowns in Melbourne affecting our students, their families and the local community.
Even during the difficult months of isolation and adapting to remote learning, the students at Scoresby engaged with community groups such as Arcare and environmental organisation Speaking 4 the Planet.
Arcare - Spring Flowers
Spring Flowers for Arcare
Student leaders as part of their engagement in our Knox Rotary Sponsored Interact Club undertake projects that benefit the community and international connections.
The impacts of COVID-19 have been widespread not only for the students in our community but also those such as the elderly residents in Arcare Knox.
As a way to combat the isolation, an initiative to create bright and colourful flowers to be delivered to the residents of Arcare in time for Spring was started.
Students from Scoresby Secondary in partnership with local primary schools rallied together to produce an array of colourful blooms, full of heartfelt messages to brighten the spirits of those residents who haven't seen their families, let alone been outside during this hard lockdown for over five months.
A massive thank you goes out to the following schools for their participation in this initiative as part of the Interact Club and for joining our Scoresby students in hand delivering the paper flowers to the overjoyed residents of Arcare Knox:
Carrington Primary School
Kent Park Primary School
Knox Gardens Primary School
Knox Park Primary School
Mountain Gate Primary School
Scoresby Primary School
Wantirna South Primary School

Speaking 4 the Planet - I am Water
Students across Years 7 to 10 were invited to participate in an art competition facilitated by the environmental organisation Speaking 4 the Planet, that was targeted exclusively to students in the Knox region.
The prompt was 'I am Water', providing different perspectives of both the life-sustaining necessity of water, particularly in remote and indigenous communities and also the destructive power of water that mother nature can present us with.
Scoresby ran a school-level competition, with Kayli C being awarded the winner of the school competition. We can also proudly announce that Kayli C has additionally, taken out the overall Senior Secondary Art category for the Knox region, Joey Z also receiving the Runners Up award to the same category.
A massive congratulations to both Kayli and Joey for participating and developing such moving and evocative artworks to express 'I am Water'!
